PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

Both the content and structure of the programme has been designed in an innovative manner to meet the needs of students who wish to progress their professional learning in an educational environment.

Students are expected to embrace the challenges of new theoretical and practical ideas applying them to real life situations

COURSE STRUCTURE

All modules are 30 credits at Level 6 and classroom based :

  • Professional Development and the Creative Practitioner
  • Researching Professional Practice
  • Developing Business Practice
  • Professional Inquiry Project

In addition students will be offered :

WHO IS IT FOR?

The programme enables students who have either a Foundation Degree(FdA/FdSc) or Higher National Diploma to achieve an honours degree OR at least 120 credits from a level 4 or above qualification and related work experience.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Students will normally hold a Foundation Degree or Diploma in Higher Education or Higher National Diploma equivalent to a total of 240 credits, of which at least 120 credits attained must be at Level 5 or above.

Students are normally required to have a 2:2 (50%) grade average or HND ‘Merit’ profile.

Students with at least 120 credits at Level 4 or above with substantial work experience will be able to enrol on a supported portfolio route to accredit their prior experiential learning (APEL) in order to progress directly onto the programme. All offers are subject to an interview.

WHAT IS THE COST?

The programme will cost £6,000.

WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT?

The programme will be delivered one evening a week at Oaklands College in St Albans and on one Saturday a month at the University of Hertfordshire. The programme duration is approximately 16 months. You will also be expected to carry out 10-15 hours a week of private study.

WHAT WILL APPEAR ON MY DEGREE CERTIFICATE?

Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Applied Professional Practice.
