This innovative 12 month work related programme is designed for people within both the private, public and not for profit sectors who are interested in developing their own knowledge, capabilities and effectiveness to enhance their leadership or management role.

The programme consist of three modules studied over the calendar year:
- Leading and Influencing People – 30 credits
- Leading Change and Organisational Development – 30 credits
- Leadership and Professional Development Project – 60 Credits (part 1 and 2)
WHO IS IT FOR?
This programme is specifically designed for people who are typically either already in employment within substantive leadership or management roles but without formal academic qualifications. Your prior experience can be recognised and accredited. Professional qualifications are also recognised and this is an excellent progression route from a Leadership or Management Qualification at level 4 or 5.
Successful completion of the programme may make you eligible to be considered for further study on a Master’s degree or MBA at the Hertfordshire Business School.
ROUTES AND ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants will have substantial experience in a management or leadership role (normally a minimum of 3 years) but without formal academic qualifications (prior experience has to be formally accredited – see below) AND/OR relevant professional qualifications in Leadership and Management at level 4 or 5.
Professionals with a Foundation Degree/Higher National Diploma (or a qualification equivalent to 240 Higher Education credits) and existing graduates with the relevant work experience can study the same programme without the RPL route to gain a BA (Hons)/Graduate Diploma.
For those without a degree, there is a supported application process to assess whether professional work experience is equivalent to the academic entry requirements i.e. the first 2 years of a standard degree course. This is called the RPL route.
We will help you identify how your work experiences may count in this way. Applicants will, if suitable, undertake a tutor supported portfolio route in order to recognise and accredit their prior learning in the workplace as well as prepare them for studying at degree level. This must be successfully completed before entry onto the one year programme. Typically this will take 3-4 months.
A tutor will be assigned to support you during this process. At the end of the process, a successful portfolio submission will result in the award of 240 credits towards the BA Leadership and Professional Development.
WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT?
For the RPL you will attend on 5 Saturdays. You will also be typically expected to carry out 10-15 hours a week of private study.

WHAT WILL APPEAR ON MY DEGREE CERTIFICATE?
Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Leadership and Professional Development.
On achievement you will also receive an ILM L6 Award in Management.
All applicants seeking to have their prior experience accredited for the degree will enrol on the Recognition of Prior Learning portfolio route first. Successful completion of this is necessary to gain admission onto the degree programme.
